Board Member Job Description

As RLF endeavors to significantly grow its membership and provide unique opportunities for Youth in business. We are seeking individuals willing to dedicate time and expertise to growing a Worldwide Organization. Board responsibilities are: 

▪ Fulfill a two-year term of office 

▪ Attend 75% of the monthly board meetings (2nd Saturday of the month) 

▪ Commit to fundraise $2,000 annually 

▪ Willingness to serve on at least one committee and actively participate 

▪ Be aware and abstain from any conflict of interest 

▪ Sign a Confidentiality form Qualifications: Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of Board governance: policy, finance,programs, and/or personnel, including: 

▪ Understanding of our community and its needs 

▪ Volunteerism in a leadership role 

▪ Passion for our cause 

▪ Willingness to commit time for monthly board meetings, committee meetings, planning sessions, special events 

▪ Collaborative 

▪ Self-motivated and goal-oriented


The Board of the RLF invites qualified applicants to consider serving on the RLF Organization Board of Directors. The attached application along with the bio or resume will be accepted for consideration. Those that meet the criteria will be invited for an interview with the Nomination Committee. We are seeking Youth Entrepreneurial business and corporate professional members who have the expertise, knowledge, skills, time and relationships to build a more successful business and youth issues advocacy organization.

All board members must: 

  • Must be between the ages of 15 & 36yrs old 
  • Must be knowledgeable on issues affecting youth businesses 
  • Must be able to serve for a term of 2 years 
  • Support the Mission of the RLF & its programs 
  • Must be a business owner for 1 years and have a business license or Corporate-Elite 
  • Must have some non-profit board experience 
  • Provide an annual financial contribution of $150 
  • Attend monthly meetings (currently scheduled for the 2nd Tuesday of each month) 
  • Strive to serve on two committees (unless chairing one) and submit reports as required 
  • Sponsor or seek sponsorship of $3,500 annually 
  • Attend annual board retreat 
  • Must be able to provide 3 character/professional references Disclosure: The RLF Board has the right to terminate BOD position based on violation of the Governance Code. “Our mission is to encourage Youth to develop their business and professional goals through education, business referrals, and networking.”
